After many attempts with different 3D suites I discovered Shade3D. The program impressed me from the beginning, because it is easy to use and yet very powerful. Shade3D workflow differs from the ones of other 3D programs: If you accept this fact, you will see that Shade3D is very well designed. I love the moment when I discover something new in Shade3D, and I say "Wow, I did not imagine that this feature is included”... Shade offers many of these moments.
It's just fun to work with Shade3D!

Long before there was Shade, there were polygons. While smoothing algorithms existed, it was like trying to build a sphere with a minimum number of concrete blocks. Imagine on the Amiga, and LightWave on the PC, felt as though they were designed to impair—rather than empower.
Shade 3D was a revelation. I could actually model with curved surfaces. Simply a matter of pulling handles until the shape was achieved. For the first time, modeling became natural. I found I could think in Shade—very empowering. I found that I could actually “photograph” anything within my imagination. I could create any sort of environment, historic or fanciful, and import a cast of characters to populate little dramas, using the included PoserFusion.
It has also allowed me to move beyond reality into non-objective modeling and rendering, with abstract images based upon flowing curves, and rich colour from its powerful lighting resources. Animation based upon these ideas has provided even greater ability to extend the imagination.
While Shade 3D has polygon tools as well, it feels like someone read my mind and produced a personal application to match my way of thinking. I think in curved surfaces.

Shade is one of the main tools I use in my work flow. There are many times when a curved surface modeler is simply the fastest, smartest and most efficient way to construct many parts or assemblies or even complete scenes and Shade is the best!
